Job summary

ASOS is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design, build and operate the platforms enabling ML models to be trained, deployed and served at scale across ASOS. You will work with Applied Scientists, Software Engineers, Data Engineers and Product Managers to power recommendations, search relevance and AI applications.

This is a highly engineering-focused role emphasising cloud-native systems, automation, observability and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with production systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable ML platforms and infrastructure for training, deployment and serving.
• Develop highly available backend services powering recommendation, search and personalisation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for ML and data products.
• Design batch and real-time inference architectures using modern cloud-native tech.
• Improve reliability and observability of ML workloads.
• Build tooling and frameworks for safe model deployment by data scientists and ML engineers.
• Own production services and incident management with RCA.
• Optimise distributed compute and resource usage across cloud environments.
• Drive IaC adoption and platform standardisation for ML systems.
• Contribute to architectural decisions across recommendation, search and AI platforms.
• Mentor engineers and promote software engineering best practices.
