Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to author high-fidelity reasoning traces that guide how LLMs plan, reason, and decide on complex tasks. This is a fully remote, flexible hourly contract designed for experienced ML professionals pushing frontier AI forward.

You will design structured traces, review them for logical soundness, and help shape training objectives within an async-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Experienced ML practitioner with strong grasp of model reasoning, evaluation, and training dynamics.
• Ability to decompose complex technical problems into clear, logical steps.
• Familiarity with LLM behavior and high-quality training data concepts.

Responsibilities

• Author complex, high-fidelity reasoning traces documenting how an LLM should plan, use tools, and reach decisions for technical tasks.
• Design structured traces capturing multi-step problem decomposition, intermediate reasoning, and decision logic with clarity and precision.
• Review and refine traces to ensure consistency, logical soundness, and alignment with training objectives.
• Develop data strategies to help models navigate ambiguous, multi-constraint real-world scenarios.
• Contribute architectural insight to trace design, explaining why and how reasoning should occur.
