Job summary

UnderwriteMe Limited is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own the design, build, and deployment of advanced LLM-based and agentic systems that extract and reason over medical records and application data.

You will lead rapid experimentation, establish evaluation harnesses, and collaborate with product, design, and underwriting SMEs to ship production-ready ML capabilities that directly impact underwriting decisions and product outcomes.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in ML/AI with NLP, LLMs and agentic systems.
• Hands-on with OpenAI and Anthropic APIs; knowledge of LLMs.
• Experience with LiteLLM, vLLM, Langfuse; coding agents is a plus.
• Design and own evaluation harnesses for LLM/agent outputs.
• Prompt/context engineering with few-shot, chain-of-thought, and tuning techniques.
• Backend/infra: Python, FastAPI, Postgres, async; Docker/Kubernetes; AWS.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, and deploy production LLM and agentic systems.
• Own evaluation harness and performance metrics.
• Architect multi-step, tool-using pipelines with guardrails and human-in-the-loop review.
• Lead innovation with cutting-edge LLM and agentic techniques.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Underwriting SMEs to align ML with goals.
• Scale systems from prototype to production, optimizing latency and cost.
