Job summary

Frazer-Nash Consultancy seeks a Methods Engineer to join the Nuclear Software team. Hybrid role involving office work, client sites, and occasional travel to Derby area sites.

Salary range £40,000–£55,000 per year with opportunities for growth, closing 25 October 2026. You will contribute to software design, physics-based analysis, and leadership of work packages within national security and energy projects.

Qualifications

• Degree or PhD in STEM field
• Experience in physics-based analysis
• Experience translating mathematical methods into robust computer code
• On-site collaboration with clients and stakeholders
• Familiarity with collaborative development practices (Git, CI/CD)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software components with focus on robustness and performance
• Translate mathematical methods into software requirements and develop test frameworks
• Work with clients and subject matter experts, often on site, to translate requirements into software solutions
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance profiling to improve code quality
• Lead technical direction and contribute to planning and delivery of project work
• Thrive in a consultancy environment solving real-world, high-consequence challenges
