Job summary

You will join Nouvita Healthcare Ltd. at Windermere House in Luton as a Senior Support Worker, delivering high-quality care and supervision to residents. You will mentor support staff and act as a key worker to individuals, ensuring compliance with care plans and safeguarding protocols.

You’ll oversee daily operations, deputise for the Home Manager when needed, and contribute to maintaining excellent records and care standards while supporting team development and resident wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience in an adult residential setting, with mental health, substance misuse, learning disabilities or autism.
• Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• NVQ/QCF/RQF in care or equivalent experience is required.

• Promote independence by assisting with daily living skills, personal hygiene, laundry, meals and money management.

About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our team in Luton. In this role, you will be a key part of our care team, responsible for providing top-quality care and support to our residents. You will also supervise and mentor support staff, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.

About you

• Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience working in an adult residential setting, particularly with individuals with mental health illnesses, substance and alcohol misuse, learning disabilities or autism.
• Skills: Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), effective communication and excellent organisational and time management abilities.
• Qualifications: NVQ/QCF/RQF in care or equivalent experience is required.
• Personal Attributes: Flexible, adaptable and calm under pressure. A good understanding of both mental and physical health needs, with the ability to take direction and follow detailed protocols.
• Knowledge: Understanding of CQC and other regulatory authorities, with a commitment to upholding high standards of care.
• Requirements: This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and right to work checks in line with safer recruitment and CQC requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical and emotional support to residents, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
• Promote independence by assisting residents with daily living skills such as personal hygiene, laundry, meal preparation and money management.
• Act as a key worker for individual residents, supporting them in maintaining relationships and accessing the community.
• Implement, review and update care plans and risk assessments, ensuring clear and accurate records are maintained.
• Supervise and support the induction of new staff members, ensuring they are up to date with mandatory training.
• Deputise for the Home Manager as required and participate in team and resident meetings.
• Assist in administrative tasks, including rota management and audits, to ensure the smooth running of the home.

About Us

You will join a friendly, highly skilled and enthusiastic care team at our care home in Luton, Windermere House. Located in a residential area of Luton in Bedfordshire, Windermere House is part of Nouvita Healthcare and a 6 bed all-male residential home. Here we will support men aged 18 and older with their mental health recovery, aiding them to live as independently as possible within the community and providing a "stepping-stone" to supported living.
