Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, the post holder will provide high standards of evidence-based, client-centered care to children and young people with mental health (CYPMH) problems within the THRIVE Framework for service delivery.

The post holder will be expected to provide interventions, advice, consultation, and supervision to colleagues and external partner agencies in line with THRIVE and clinical competency. The role will continue to develop in line with national and local initiatives, as it is identified within the CYPMH strategy.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check for children and adults.

Job Description
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of specialist and generic work depending on competence and experience.
  • Conduct assessments, formulate treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions for children, young people, and their families.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop care plans aligned with the THRIVE framework.
  • Work sensitively with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Screen referrals to children and young people's services.
  • Participate in duty rotas and exercise autonomy within supervision structures.
  • Deliver care coordination, involving multi-agency collaboration and organizing meetings.
  • Create clinical formulations and intervention plans based on evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure standards of clinical practice and contribute to risk management and safeguarding policies.
  • Maintain accurate electronic clinical records and utilize routine outcome measures.
  • Engage in service user participation activities.
Communication
  • Communicate assessment and treatment information sensitively and effectively.
  • Represent the service in child protection conferences.
  • Facilitate multi-agency meetings and reviews.
  • Provide detailed reports on interventions.
Teaching, Training, and Supervision
  • Participate in supervision and reflective practice.
  • Provide training to professionals and contribute to trainee development.
  • Maintain professional registration and contribute to service development.
Management and Service Development
  • Identify priorities and contribute to resource planning.
  • Engage in audits, evaluations, and research.
  • Assist in recruitment and support workload management.
Professional Development
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities.
