Job summary

GE Vernova in Rugby seeks a Lead Drives Control Application Software Engineer to own the full development lifecycle for control software across megawatt-scale drive systems used in Marine, Naval, Energy and Industrial sectors worldwide.

The role is a senior individual contributor with hands-on design, validation with HIL rigs, and deployment support on site, including occasional international travel. Hybrid working and continuous professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience delivering control software for power electronic drive systems.
• Solid understanding of electrical machines and converter topologies.
• Eligibility to obtain UK SC clearance and willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Own the software development lifecycle for MW-scale drive systems and ensure design quality.
• Lead validation and integration using HIL rigs and field testing.
• Collaborate across hardware, systems and commissioning engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Support commissioning on site at customer sites and travel as required.
