We’re looking for a Senior Medical Secretary to join our Float Team based at London Bridge Hospital.

As a Float Senior Medical Secretary, you will be responsible for ensuring the continued provision of the highest quality of secretarial and administrative support to all our consultants – covering any gaps in the service. This is a varied role that will provide you an opportunity to work with multiple consultants across multiple specialities and will assist you in developing your existing skills and knowledge.

From the CEO to the colleagues on the floor we all have a part to play in delivering exceptional care to our patients . Other’s may think this is just a support role, but to us, you’ll be part of a wider team with a unique sense of purpose, one that helps improve lives on a daily basis.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide full secretarial support to the Consultants (including audio-typing of clinical/non-clinical material, reports etc.)
  • Responsible for the appropriate management of patient appointments, liaising with patients and hospital staff as required in order to facilitate this
  • Receive new patient referrals and arrange relevant appointments across various hospital departments
  • Register new patients and ensure that all patient records are kept up to date
  • Respond to all written and verbal queries from patients and relatives, escalating to the consultants if required
  • Undertake any other duties as called upon to carry out by the Medical Secretary Manager, Deputy Medical Secretary Manager or Supervisor
  • Liaise with consultants and other secretaries to ensure the smooth running of the Out-Patients Clinics

What you’ll bring:

  • Essential
    • At least 3 years of Medical Secretarial experience.
    • Significant understanding of Medical terminology.
    • Experience working in a variety of specialities.
    • Strong attention to detail, accurate typing and letter proof reading skills.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Excellent communication skills.

    Preferred
    • Previous experience of working as a float Medical Secretary preferred.
    • Previous knowledge of DGL Practice Manager and Meditech preferred.
