I’m working exclusively with a well-established, global independent medical education provider to appoint a Senior Medical Education Director. The company is part of a wider international group of healthcare information and education businesses, and everything it does is built around one goal: helping clinicians deliver state-of-the-art care through education that is evidence-based, learner-centred and truly independent.
This is a senior scientific role for someone who loves the craft of medical education and wants the autonomy, trust and influence to do it at the highest level. You’ll be the scientific owner of your own programmes. You’ll also be a go-to senior voice for the wider Clinical Content team, shaping quality and consistency across the portfolio without having to carry line management.
Why this role is worth a conversation
- You’ll be the primary scientific owner of your programmes, turning practice gaps into educational concepts, learning objectives and storyboards, and designing the full educational arc through to challenge questions and outcomes measures.
- You’ll be trusted with the most complex, high-visibility and high-value work, including leading supporter-facing proposals for significant multi-activity opportunities in partnership with business development.
- You’ll work within a model that takes independence seriously: you shape and present concepts before an activity is funded, then step back from supporter discussions on content once it is, so educational decisions stay where they belong.
- You’ll have real influence across the team, mentoring Associate Medical Education Directors and Medical Education Directors, leading onboarding for new colleagues and raising standards through peer review and example-setting.
- You’ll help lead the responsible use of AI in your therapeutic areas, using and championing approved tools for literature review, evidence synthesis and content drafting, piloting new use cases and sharing what works with colleagues and the Vice President, Medical Education.
What you’ll be doing
- Identifying practice gaps and unmet needs, including on complex or emerging clinical topics
- Developing educational concepts, learning objectives, storyboards and outcomes measures that align tightly with programme goals
- Leading or overseeing literature review and evidence synthesis so that content is accurate, current and aligned with clinical guidelines
- Briefing, guiding and supporting faculty, and leading recordings while respecting faculty independence
- Reviewing slides, scripts and final outputs to protect educational intent and quality
- Ensuring adherence to IME principles and accreditation standards (ACCME/EBAC), and spotting scientific or compliance risks early
- Tracking pipelines, guidelines and competitors, and feeding therapeutic area insight into account plans
- Partnering closely with Medical Writers, Clinical Content Developers, Medical Editors and Project Directors to deliver high-quality work on time
Who I’m looking for
- An advanced degree in a medical, scientific or related discipline
- Demonstrated excellence in medical education or scientific communications, ideally within IME/CME
- Strong expertise in interpreting clinical research and integrating guidelines
- A proven ability to independently lead complex programmes from concept to delivery
- Confidence presenting concepts and educational plans to senior supporter stakeholders
- The ability to give clear, constructive feedback that lifts the work of others
- A strategic thinker with strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication
- Someone who is comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment and is curious about how AI can improve scientific work
