Our client, a growing independent healthcare communications agency, is looking for an ambitious Scientific Director to bring scientific expertise, strategic thinking and outstanding leadership to its expanding team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced agency professional to influence client strategy, drive scientific excellence and help grow accounts and teams.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead scientific strategy across a diverse range of medical communications projects and accounts.
• Shape exceptional content, from high-level strategic planning to hands-on writing and editorial direction.
• Be a trusted client advisor, translating complex science into clear, compelling and strategically aligned communications.
• Drive quality and delivery, ensuring scientific accuracy, creative excellence, on-time execution and budget accountability.
• Lead and develop talent, coaching and mentoring colleagues across Scientific Services.
• Unlock growth opportunities, contributing to account development, new business pitches and organic growth.
• Bring teams together, collaborating across client services, editorial, digital, creative and senior leadership.
• Make an impact across publications and Medical Affairs, including advisory boards, symposia, live events and innovative scientific communications.

What you’ll bring

• At least 7 years’ experience in a healthcare communications agency, including 4+ years in publications.
• Current experience working within an agency environment.
• Experience in infectious diseases; rare diseases experience is a bonus.
• Strong scientific writing, editorial and strategic communications expertise.
• The ability to turn complex science into compelling storytelling and meaningful client solutions.
• Proven experience leading projects, managing budgets and delivering commercially sound work.
• Confidence in leading client workshops, developing relationships and contributing to pitches and business growth.
• A natural leadership style, with a passion for coaching, mentoring and developing others.
• Excellent organisation, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work autonomously and lead collaboratively.
