Job summary

QinetiQ in Gosport is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Structural Engineer to lead design and analysis from concept to testing and production. You will deliver structural work on submarine propulsors, using multi-material assemblies for demanding environments at the Haslar site.

The role requires a BEng in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture, strong CAD/FEA skills (NX/SolidWorks), and SC clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• BEng in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical/structural design and manufacturing principles.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (NX/SolidWorks) and FEA.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Senior Engineer, solving problems with HM engineering judgement and planning work with Project Management.
• Develop capabilities and mentor others within engineering community.
• Enhance collaboration across functions to deliver the technical programme and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify joint technical strategies with partner organisations to expand customer offering and support BD/Sales.
• Ensure projects are conducted safely and hazards are mitigated; governance applied by peer review.
