Job summary

MEPJOBS UK is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead a major data centre M&E package west of London. You will oversee the mechanical delivery, coordinating with design teams, client and subcontractors to drive installation, commissioning and handover.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in mechanical project management within demanding environments and can manage complex packages including cooling systems, BMS interfaces and plantrooms.

Job description

An established M&E contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to take a lead role in the delivery of a major data centre project West of London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a background delivering large-scale, technically complex M&E projects.

Previous data centre experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Candidates from other technically demanding environments such as healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, industrial, energy, nuclear or major commercial projects will also be considered.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the mechanical delivery of the project, working closely with the wider project team, client, design teams and specialist subcontractors.

Responsibilities Will Include

• Leading the mechanical package from pre-construction through installation, commissioning and handover
• Managing mechanical subcontractors and specialist suppliers
• Overseeing programme, procurement and project delivery
• Managing technical submittals, RFIs and design coordination
• Monitoring project progress, quality and commercial performance
• Coordinating closely with electrical, controls and other MEP disciplines
• Managing commissioning, witnessing and handover activities
• Chairing and attending project, client and subcontractor meetings
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required technical standard

The Person

We are interested in speaking with experienced Mechanical Project Managers / Senior Mechanical Project Managers from an M&E contracting background.

Ideally, you will have experience delivering substantial mechanical packages involving systems such as:

• Chilled water and cooling systems
• HVAC and ventilation
• Major mechanical plant and plantrooms
• BMS / controls interfaces
• Mechanical infrastructure and associated pipework
• Testing and commissioning
