Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer for delivery across water and wastewater infrastructure within the UK. Based in Southampton, you will provide technical leadership, governance and engineering assurance across a portfolio of multi-million-pound schemes, from early design through construction and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering engineering projects in the UK Water/Wastewater sector (or equivalent process industries).
• Experience on complex infrastructure projects in regulated environments.
• Ability to review and challenge technical information and engineering solutions.
• Experience working with contractors, consultants, clients and supply chain partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assurance and governance across multiple concurrent water projects.
• Support delivery of complex, multi-million-pound infrastructure schemes from concept through to completion.
• Review engineering proposals and technical submissions, providing challenge and guidance.
• Collaborate with design, construction, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure solutions meet client specifications, regulatory requirements and operational needs.
• Support risk management, technical reviews and lifecycle decision-making.
• Manage interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
• Assist with problem solving and resolution of engineering issues.
• Attend design reviews, progress meetings and stakeholder discussions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Support commissioning, testing, handover documentation and operational readiness.
• Contribute to programme, cost and change management including variations and commercial decisions.
