Job summary

VolkerStevin, part of VolkerWessels UK, is recruiting a Mechanical Project Engineer to deliver mechanical packages on major infrastructure projects in the Anglian Water region. You will lead procurement, design review, installation, testing and handover, ensuring safety, quality and time/budget compliance.

We seek a proactive engineer with a relevant engineering qualification, experience in mechanical equipment installation and subcontractor management, and strong planning and communication

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification (BEng, HNC, HND) or equivalent.
• Experience delivering electrical works within utilities or water industry desirable.
• Experience managing subcontractors and mechanical packages.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical procurement packages from specification through installation and handover.
• Produce scopes of work and manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure successful project delivery.
• Oversee equipment selection, including pumps, valves, penstocks, lifting equipment and related systems.
• Monitor package costs, schedule performance and project risks.
• Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces across the project team.
• Carry out site surveys, FATs, SATs and witness testing to ensure quality and compliance.
• Review subcontractor designs, technical submissions and installation documentation.
• Manage defects, maintenance activities and project close-out during the defects liability period.
• Support planning, reporting and change management activities.
• Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality standards are maintained.
