Job summary

TAIT is seeking a Mechanical Fabricator to join our team in the UK. You will weld and fabricate a range of bespoke projects, build mechanical assemblies, and ensure parts meet exact specifications through reading drawings and layouts.

The role requires hands-on experience with welding (MIG/TIG/MMA) and an ability to work with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium. You will collaborate across design, engineering and installation teams to deliver high-quality, safe systems and structures on

Qualifications

• Proven experience in custom welding and fabrication; welding certifications are preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in machine assembly.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and layouts confidently.
• Familiarity with safe operation of fabrication tools and machinery.
• Experience with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
• Ability to manage time, handle changing priorities, and meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate structural and architectural components using MIG, TIG, and MMA welding.
• Construct metal frameworks, fascia structures, deck platforms, and mounting assemblies.
• Use cutting, rolling, and bending equipment to form components.
• Assemble mechanical systems including bearings, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, and rails.
• Fit and align moving parts for safe, reliable function.
• Perform functional testing and basic fault finding on mechanical systems.
• Work from schematics and drawings to complete assemblies.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to health & safety standards.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, manufacturing and installation teams to resolve build challenges.
• Record in-process quality checks and ensure specs are met.
• Handle materials with inventory checks and waste minimization.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to fabrication and assembly.
