Job summary

TAIT is seeking a Mechanical Fabricator to join its live events manufacturing team in the UK. You will weld, fabricate and assemble bespoke show hardware, working with mild steel, stainless and aluminium and using MIG and TIG processes to meet tight tolerances.

You will build structural frames, fascia, decks and moving stage components from drawings, test assemblies, and collaborate with design, engineering and installation teams to ensure safe, precise and reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in custom welding and fabrication.
• Mechanical aptitude with hands-on assembly experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Familiarity with safe use of fabrication tools and machinery.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment for fitting.
• Strong time management to meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate structural and architectural components using MIG/TIG/MMA welding to spec.
• Assemble mechanical systems including gearboxes, motors, bearings, pulleys, and rails.
• Fit and align moving parts for smooth, safe operation.
• Follow schematics, drawings, and layouts to complete assemblies.
• Maintain tidy work areas and adhere to health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, and installation teams to resolve build challenges.
• Conduct in-process quality checks and waste minimization.
