An exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Estimator with Morson Talent to join a Tier 1 contractor on major water infrastructure projects. In this home-based role with occasional travel, you will develop significant cost estimates while ensuring the project aligns with the highest standards within the water sector. Candidates should possess mechanical engineering expertise and relevant estimating experience, particularly within clean and wastewater projects. This position offers the chance to impact essential infrastructure over the next five years.

• Familiarity with NEC contracts and estimating tools preferred.

Home-based with occasional travel

We’re working with a Tier 1 contractor delivering major water infrastructure projects as part of AMP8. They’re expanding their pre-construction team and looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join them on a remote basis.

What you’ll do:

• Develop bottom-up and top-down estimates for mechanical works (£5m–£250m projects)
• Review drawings, specs & scoping docs to build accurate cost models
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors
• Benchmark using cost curves and SORs
• Support pricing strategy, risk identification, and tender preparation

What you’ll need:

• Mechanical discipline background + estimating experience in the water sector
• Experience working on clean/wastewater or capital maintenance schemes
• Familiarity with NEC contracts & estimating tools (CCS Candy = bonus)
• Great commercial awareness + strong attention to detail

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping critical UK water infrastructure over the next five years.
