United Utilities is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to shape critical water and wastewater infrastructure. You will lead within UU Design, guiding projects from concept to delivery and delivering sustainable engineering solutions for millions of customers in the North West.

The role demands Chartered status or equivalent, strong leadership, and a track record in complex technical challenges and multidisciplinary teams, with a full UK driving licence. Hybrid working is offered.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with IMechE membership.
• Accredited mechanical engineering degree at least MEng/MSc or BEng.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Experience delivering capital projects in water/related sectors.
• Understanding of whole-life cost optimisation.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and designer responsibilities.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across a broad mechanical portfolio.
• Lead engineers within the Mechanical Engineering team.
• Deliver studies, investigations and detailed designs.
• Support operations to improve efficiency, resilience and compliance.
• Produce and review calculations, specifications and drawings.
• Ensure designs meet legislation and CDM requirements.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and assure quality.
• Support projects from FEED through handover.
