Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead water and wastewater projects across the UK. The role involves design ownership from feasibility through construction, including pumping systems and pipework.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams, liaise with clients, and help win work through proposals and meetings. The successful candidate will have experience in water utilities, Chartered Engineer status or progression toward it, and strong skills in BIM/Plant 3D with UK standards

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering mechanical designs in the water utilities sector, including treatment facilities and pumping systems.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with IMechE or progressing toward chartership.
• Sound knowledge of current UK water design standards and practices.
• Proficiency in digital design software (BIM, Plant 3D).
• Clear communication and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Results-driven with ability to manage priorities and deliver on time.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and delivery of water/wastewater projects from feasibility to construction.
• Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams and oversee junior engineers.
• Engage with clients to meet technical requirements, manage timelines and budgets.
• Contribute to bid preparation, proposals and client meetings.
• Utilise BIM/Plant 3D to enhance project outcomes and promote technical rigour.
