Job summary

Arup is seeking a senior/principal mechanical engineer for a northern UK office with proven experience delivering water utility projects. You will provide mechanical input across feasibility and design work, supporting AMP8 delivery for utilities such as United Utilities and Severn Trent, and mentoring less experienced staff.

We value engineers who are self-motivated, collaborative and committed to high-quality, sustainable solutions. Chartered status or progress toward chartership is welcomed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated track record of mechanical engineering feasibility and design in water utilities including treatment and transmission systems.
• Knowledge of design tools and methods such as BIM, Plant 3D or similar packages.
• Strong understanding of pumping system design standards and best practices.
• Degree qualified, likely a Master's level in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Chartered Engineer status with IMechE or equivalent body, or progress toward chartership.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical input to water utility projects, including feasibility and design work.
• Support and mentor less experienced staff within multidisciplinary teams.
• Engage in work winning activities and build industry networks.
