Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Water team across Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness. You will lead mechanical design for water and wastewater projects, mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex infrastructure solutions.

Essential qualifications include a Mechanical Engineering degree and Chartered or working towards CEng/IEng, plus UK water sector experience.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• CEng/IEng or working towards.
• Experience delivering mechanical engineering projects within UK water sector or other regulated infra.
• Strong understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes, pumping stations and mechanical systems.
• Experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience producing and reviewing technical calculations, specifications and documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for water/wastewater treatment works and associated infrastructure.
• Produce and review calculations, specifications, schedules and engineering documents.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Support site investigations, design reviews and construction activities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Build relationships with clients, contractors and delivery partners for successful outcomes.
