Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Water team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. You will take ownership of mechanical design across water and wastewater projects, guiding feasibility through to commissioning while managing multidisciplinary delivery and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience delivering mechanical projects in water sector or regulated infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes and pumping systems.
• Experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary projects.
• Ability to produce and review technical calculations and documentation.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills; mentoring juniors.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for water and wastewater facilities and pumps.
• Produce and review technical calculations, specs and schedules.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and other engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
• Support site investigations, reviews, and construction activities as needed.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and partners.
