Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Water team in Bristol, Cardiff or Exeter. You will lead the technical delivery of mechanical design across major water and wastewater projects, mentoring junior engineers and working with multidisciplinary teams on nationally significant programmes.

You'll expand technical expertise, deliver sustainable solutions, and contribute to the South West and Wales portfolio with a strong emphasis on collaboration and quality.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards.
• Experience delivering mechanical engineering design within the water sector or another regulated infrastructure industry.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering standards and industry best practice.
• Experience delivering technical design packages across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Delivering mechanical design activities from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support.
• Producing and reviewing mechanical calculations, technical specifications, schedules, reports and engineering documentation.
• Leading the design of pumping stations, water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines and associated mechanical infrastructure.
• Undertaking site visits, surveys and technical investigations where required.
• Collaborating with electrical, process, civil and structural engineers to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Working with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders while providing technical guidance and mentoring to developing engineers.
