Job summary

IonQ, Oxford Ionics, part of IonQ, is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical design from requirements through manufacture and integration. You’ll work on hardware surrounding the quantum processor, including cryostat needs, cooling equipment, vacuum chambers and supporting structures.

You will collaborate with scientists and engineers, produce CAD designs and drawings, manage BOMs, and ensure designs can be built in practice in our lab and with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with around 5 years of experience.
• Proactive, able to work independently and collaborate with scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Produce CAD designs, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
• Manage documentation in PLM system and coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing.
• Support technicians in the lab and troubleshoot design issues.
• Integrate subsystems into a complete mechanical system.
• Plan routing of cables, optical fiber, vacuum, gas handling and coolant lines.
