Job summary

Recruit 2 You is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a role in the energy sector based near Ripley. The position focuses on mechanical design of pressure vessels, shell and tube heat exchangers, and associated components, with extensive use of PV Elite and similar tools.

You will review specs, perform calculations, liaise with clients and suppliers, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or international equivalent) and experience with pressure vessel design.
• Experience with EN 13445, ASME VIII Div. 1, PD 5500 or AD 2000 codes.
• Proficiency in PV Elite, COMPASS/Compress or similar software and hand-calculation verification.
• Strong understanding of materials, welding, NDT and pressure testing.
• Familiarity with Pressure Equipment Directive or UK regulations.
• Experience communicating design requirements to CAD/fabrication teams.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specs, datasheets, P&IDs and relevant standards.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and inspectors to resolve technical queries.
• Perform mechanical design calculations for pressure vessels.
• Design shell and tube heat exchangers and components.
• Verify results with hand calculations and FE analysis.
• Select materials based on operating conditions and corrosion.
• Collaborate with thermal engineers and CAD teams to develop drawings.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, welding and inspection standards.
• Prepare calculation reports and documentation for approvals.
• Review supplier drawings and resolve technical issues.
