Job summary

3D Personnel Ltd is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to oversee mechanical engineering and package delivery on a major data centre project in Blyth, Northumberland.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, data centre experience, and strong coordination of HVAC, pipework, and commissioning, with leadership of mechanical subcontractors.

Candidates based within 60 miles of Blyth are preferred, with flexible travel arrangements for others as required.

Qualifications

• Data centre construction experience is essential.
• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Significant mechanical engineering experience in senior construction or package management roles.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical pipework, installation sequencing and commissioning.
• Experience managing mechanical subcontractors and engineering teams.
• Commercial awareness and experience supporting valuations and final accounts.
• Excellent technical coordination and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Report to the MEP Lead and manage a team of mechanical Package Managers.
• Coordinate mechanical construction activities including HVAC, pipework and related systems.
• Manage technical submittals, RFIs and engineering documentation.
• Oversee mechanical installation sequencing and coordination with other trades.
• Review RAMS and ensure mechanical works meet project requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical commissioning scripts and testing procedures.
• Support subcontractor valuations, commercial assessments and final accounts.
• Manage technical issues and support programme delivery.
• Oversee O&M documentation, quality close-out and handover requirements.
• Liaise with design, construction and commissioning teams throughout the project.
