Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing building services team on technically challenging projects across healthcare, education, residential, commercial, and public sector developments. You will lead design, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and build strong client relationships.

The role requires a mechanical/building services degree, 3–4 years’ post-qualification experience, and strong knowledge of HVAC and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• 3-4 years' post-qualification experience within building services design.
• Strong experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions within a consultancy environment.
• Knowledge of relevant British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance.
• Experience using design software such as Revit, Relux / Dialux, Amtech.
• Understanding of sustainable design principles and renewable technologies.
• Experience with BREEAM would be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building services design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering design delivery on selected projects.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Manage mechanical design elements from concept through to completion.
• Produce technical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
• Carry out engineering calculations and support technical reviews.
• Attend client meetings and contribute to presentations.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers.
• Maintain and improve technical standards within the engineering team.
• Contribute to innovative, sustainable and low-carbon engineering solutions.
