Job summary

Carrington West seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, focusing on building services for healthcare, education, residential, commercial, and other sectors.

You will deliver high-quality mechanical designs, mentor junior engineers, and build strong client relationships in a collaborative environment. The role covers concept through completion, with emphasis on sustainable, low-carbon solutions and adherence to industry standards.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3–4 years' post-qualification experience within building services design.
• Strong experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions within a consultancy environment.
• Knowledge of relevant British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance.
• Experience using design software such as Revit, Relux / Dialux, Amtech or equivalent engineering software.
• Understanding of sustainable design principles and renewable technologies.
• Experience working with BREEAM requirements would be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building services design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering design delivery on selected projects.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Manage mechanical design elements from concept through to completion.
• Produce technical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
• Carry out engineering calculations and support technical reviews.
• Attend client meetings and contribute to presentations.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers.
• Maintain and improve technical standards within the engineering team.
• Contribute to innovative, sustainable and low‑carbon engineering solutions.
