CIBSE Journal is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Warwick-based team. You will lead complex automation projects from concept through installation and handover, providing technical direction across multiple streams.

The role requires strong CAD skills, experience with regulated industries and a track record of delivering robust mechanical solutions while mentoring junior engineers. A senior leadership mindset is essential.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
8 years' post–graduate engineering experience.
Experience delivering automation systems in regulated industries.
Strong mechanical design and hands-on build experience.
Advanced CAD design experience.
Knowledge of FMEA and structured problem–solving techniques.
Experience with supplier management and procurement.
Knowledge of process validation and statistical analysis.
Strong customer–facing and client engagement skills.
Ability to mentor engineers and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Lead complex mechanical engineering work packages and provide technical leadership across projects.
Own complex mechanical design packages, assemblies and detailed engineering solutions.
Lead design reviews, FMEA, reverse builds and technical analysis.
Identify and manage technical and commercial risks.
Oversee procurement, supplier management and technical queries.
Lead testing strategies, problem solving and root cause analysis.
Review and approve project documentation.
Lead qualification and validation activities, including protocol execution and reporting.
Manage engineering changes, impact assessments and document control.
Support RAMS, shipping, installation and customer site activities.
Represent engineering in customer meetings and technical discussions.
Provide technical support and leadership across multiple projects.
Mentor and develop engineers and apprentices.
Ensure projects meet cost, time and quality requirements.
