Job summary

AIXTRON Ltd in Swavesey, United Kingdom, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive mechanical design for our bespoke MOCVD equipment. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, delivering robust subsystems and components in a modern engineering office with a quality system and safety framework.

The role requires an engineering degree in mechanical discipline (HNC+), practical, 3D CAD experience (Creo), and familiarity with SAP.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in a mechanical discipline or equivalent qualification/experience (minimum HNC + experience).
  • Practical background, ideally apprenticeship based.
  • 3D CAD design experience (Creo).
  • Microsoft Office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in material science would be beneficial.
  • Experience in vacuum systems, pneumatics, gas systems, automation an advantage.
  • Experience in ERP systems (SAP) desirable.
  • Professional registration with a relevant Engineering body encouraged and preferred.
  • Accurate, thorough, consistent, pro-active, assertive.
  • Team player.

As part of a multi-disciplined team and a modern Engineering department, this role involves the continuous improvement of the Company’s world leading products through leading-edge mechanical design. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be expected to implement effective mechanical design solutions to ensure the companies MOCVD systems remain at the forefront of technology.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Mechanical design of the Company’s bespoke special purpose scientific equipment.
  • Under the guidance of principal engineers they will provide detailed designs for sub-systems and components.
  • You will adopt the working practices of a modern engineering office and a company wide quality system.
