We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior Mechanical Engineer based at Preston, with hybrid working arrangements and regular site attendance expectations.

You will report directly to the RDL, and your role will involve providing high-quality engineering design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. Your responsibilities include coordinating the design process and producing design documents and drawings, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards relevant to the contract.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specification requirements and are suitable for construction and commissioning. The term ‘cost’ encompasses all costs associated with design and construction, including design time, materials, erection, and the impact on other disciplines.
2. Utilizing standard practices whenever possible, maintaining competitiveness, and providing estimates and feedback to the proposals department.
3. Following procedures and processes to support the ongoing development of the department.
4. Assisting in developing, monitoring, and reviewing procedures and processes for efficiency.
5. Writing, updating, and overseeing procedures to ensure smooth departmental operations.
6. Coordinating designs with all internal and external disciplines to ensure integrated contract execution.
7. Maintaining files and records throughout contract durations.
8. Ensuring customer satisfaction by prioritizing client needs and feedback.
9. Supervising and developing staff members.
10. Promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
11. Minimizing waste across departmental activities.
12. Considering environmental issues in design processes.
13. Ensuring all designs fully comply with health and safety regulations.
