Job summary

MasterMover, based in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, is seeking a Design Engineer or Senior Design Engineer to influence product performance, quality and manufacturability. You will work across our mechanical portfolio, iterating designs with input from Production, Purchasing and Quality teams.

For more experienced candidates, expect greater technical ownership, leading design work, chairing reviews and strengthening engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND or apprenticeship in Mechanical/Design Engineering or related field.
• Competence with 3D CAD such as Solid Edge or SolidWorks.
• Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of sheet metal, welded fabrications, machined parts and manufacturing processes.
• Interest in cost-effective, user-centered design.
• Methodical approach to problem-solving with attention to detail and documentation.
• Collaborative, proactive attitude with initiative to release designs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and systems from concept to detailed design release.
• Produce 3D models, 2D drawings, specifications and documentation.
• Improve performance, robustness, cost, manufacturability and serviceability of existing products.
• Apply design for manufacture across sheet metal, fabricated and machined parts.
• Capture real-world feedback with Production teams to resolve design/manufacturing issues.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Quality and other functions on cost reduction and quality improvement.
• Support prototypes, testing, validation and field evaluation to ensure design intent.
• Contribute to design reviews, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Ensure designs meet functional requirements and internal processes.
