Job summary

Redline Group in Bournemouth is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Product Development team. You will own new product development projects from concept through to production, leading cross-functional teams to deliver innovative mechanical and electromechanical solutions.

You will design and develop using SolidWorks, optimise for manufacturability, and ensure products meet customer requirements, regulatory standards and manufacturing objectives.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical or Electromechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Proven mechanical product design experience with strong SolidWorks competence.
• Experience with DFMA, APQP/PPAP and Design & Process FMEA is preferred.
• Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, IFS or Priority is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of new customer and product roadmap projects.
• Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical products from concept to production.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings and documentation using SolidWorks.
• Produce specifications, validation plans and compliance documentation.
• Optimise products for performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate designs.
• Collaborate across Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Project Management.
• Drive Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and support prototype builds and handover.
