Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design, develop and deliver software that interacts with specialist hardware systems for nationally significant programmes. The role involves contributing across the full SDLC, mentoring engineers and guiding technical direction.

You will work in a collaborative team environment, solving complex challenges across Windows and Linux, with opportunities to influence architecture and strategic choices within a defence technology context

Qualifications

• Strong software development experience using C and C++.
• Experience developing software within Linux environments.
• Experience designing and architecting software solutions for complex systems.
• Experience developing software that interfaces directly with hardware devices and platforms.
• Knowledge of device driver development and low-level software engineering principles.
• Experience working within Agile, DevOps or modern software delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software across Windows and Linux environments.
• Develop low-level software, device drivers and hardware interfaces for specialist systems.
• Contribute to software architecture and long-term product development.
• Lead code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
• Support Agile delivery activities including sprint planning and estimation.
• Mentor engineers and foster continuous improvement.
