Options Resourcing Ltd is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Birmingham. You will lead mechanical building services design across diverse projects, from concept through handover, with mentoring responsibilities for junior engineers.

The role requires strong knowledge of MEP systems, building regulations, and BIM/digital design, plus the ability to manage multiple projects within a hybrid work pattern (3 days in office, 2 days remote).

Qualifications

• Strong experience in mechanical building services design.
• Experience delivering projects through multiple RIBA stages.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems and design principles.
• Experience producing mechanical design calculations, specifications, drawings and reports.
• Good understanding of Building Regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance.
• Experience with BIM and digital design processes.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to manage workload and meet project deadlines.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and technical design.
• Ideally, pursuing professional registration (CEng/IEng).

Responsabilités

• Develop and deliver high-quality mechanical building services designs from concept through to construction and handover.
• Produce technically robust and commercially practical engineering solutions.
• Work collaboratively with project leaders, engineers, architects, contractors, clients and design teams.
• Prepare design calculations, specifications, drawings, reports and technical documentation.
• Ensure project deliverables are accurate, coordinated and produced within programmes.
• Contribute to design reviews, technical meetings and progress discussions.
• Work across RIBA Stages 0–6, as required by the project.
• Support construction-stage queries, technical submissions, inspections and snagging.
