Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a Pitstone, Hertfordshire-based hybrid role. The contract is Inside IR35, 6-12 months, with potential for permanent placement.

You will lead mechanical design across electromechanical products in highly regulated aviation environments, including rotating machinery and smart motor technologies. The role emphasizes engineering leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and production support to maintain build schedules.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related design discipline.
• Proven experience in designing complex electromechanical products in regulated sectors such as aerospace.
• Experience with rotating machinery and smart motor/generator technologies is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen TLS team with a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on efficiency.
• Provide tactical and strategic support to ensure project success.
• Represent Engineering at QRQC meetings to provide technical leadership.
• Collaborate with OE and MRO teams to deliver engineering solutions and documentation.
• Support production to meet build schedules and address engineering issues.
• Lead engineering investigations with thorough analysis and clear resolutions.
