Job summary

Winthrop Technologies is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to lead on-site mechanical works for a major data centre project in Blyth, UK. You will oversee HVAC, piping, and related systems, ensuring safe delivery on programme and within budget while upholding high quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar discipline.
• 8+ years of mechanical construction experience with site management focus.
• Proven track record delivering HVAC, piping, and related systems on large projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, coordination and programme delivery.
• Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Experience with data centre, industrial, or mission-critical projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all Mechanical construction activities across the project lifecycle.
• Lead day-to-day mechanical site operations in coordination with the wider project team.
• Ensure QA/QC processes are implemented and maintained per specifications.
• Coordinate project schedules with Planners, Project Managers, subcontractors, and design teams.
• Manage mechanical subcontractor performance, including progress tracking and meetings.
• Maintain subcontractor safety documentation and site safety standards.
• Attend and lead Site Meetings, Engineering Reviews, Planning Meetings and handovers.
• Review drawings and submittals for quality, buildability, and compliance.
• Support commercial management by tracking variations and costs.
