Job summary

Winthrop Technologies Ltd. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to lead on-site mechanical works for a data centre project in Blyth, UK.

You will ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality while maintaining strict safety standards. The role requires hands-on leadership of HVAC, piping and related services, coordination with planners, subcontractors, and design teams, and active involvement in QA/QC, progress reporting, and meeting leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar discipline.
• 8+ years’ experience in mechanical construction with on-site management.
• Experience managing HVAC, piping, and related services on large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, coordination, and programme delivery.
• Proven leadership, organizational and communication skills.
• Experience with data centre, industrial, or mission-critical projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all Mechanical construction activities across the project lifecycle.
• Lead day-to-day mechanical site operations with the project team.
• Ensure QA/QC processes align with specifications and standards.
• Coordinate schedules with Planners, PMs, subcontractors, and design teams.
• Manage mechanical subcontractor performance and progress.
• Maintain subcontractor safety documentation and site records.
• Attend and lead site, engineering, planning, and handover meetings.
• Liaise with design teams to issue construction information and submittals on time.
• Review drawings and specs for buildability and compliance.
• Maintain health and safety standards and drive safety culture.
• Support commercial tracking variations and costs, attend weekly meetings.
• Issue progress reports to senior management.
• Manage mechanical snagging and timely close-out.
• Identify and resolve technical, design, and coordination issues.
