Job summary

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Maternity Triage Matron to provide visible, compassionate, and inclusive leadership for maternity triage services across York and Scarborough.

You will lead 24-hour triage operations, oversee urgent antenatal and postnatal pathways, and drive improvements to ensure safe, responsive and equitable urgent maternity care in partnership with multidisciplinary teams and regional partners.

Qualifications

• Senior midwifery leadership experience.
• Experience leading maternity triage or urgent maternity pathways.
• Strong governance, patient safety and incident management knowledge.
• Data-driven approach with use of performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, clinical and operational leadership for maternity triage services across York and Scarborough.
• Lead development of triage pathways in line with national standards and local priorities.
• Oversee patient flow, capacity, demand, waiting times and escalation processes.
• Support Flow, Safety and Escalation Midwives and multidisciplinary teams to maintain high-quality care.
• Lead governance, safety, risk management and incident investigations with embedded learning.
• Use data and feedback to drive service improvement and innovation.
• Collaborate with obstetric, neonatal, emergency care and regional partners to improve pathways.
