Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) seeks an experienced midwife to join Saint Mary’s Wythenshawe as Ward Manager in Maternity Triage. You will provide visible clinical and operational leadership, supporting safe, compassionate care for women and birthing people, and leading a dedicated team.

You will drive high standards of care, quality improvement and governance while developing staff and promoting effective patient flow across intrapartum services.

Qualifications

• Qualified midwife with current registration and NMC standards.
• Experience in intrapartum care and maternity triage.
• Strong leadership, governance and clinical governance knowledge.
• Demonstrated CPD activity and change management experience.
• Experience in workforce management and staff development.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of national and local maternity policy and budget awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible clinical and operational leadership for the ward.
• Lead a dedicated team and promote collaboration and improvement.
• Drive high standards of patient care, quality improvement and governance.
• Support seamless intrapartum pathways and patient flow.
• Contribute to maternity debrief and senior midwife rota.
• Ensure staffing, performance management and compliance with standards.
