Job summary

York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a senior maternity leader to oversee 24/7 triage across York and Scarborough sites. You will design pathways, manage patient flow and contribute to governance and safety improvements.

The role requires NMC registration, substantial Band 7 leadership experience and experience with BSOTS or equivalent triage systems. You will work across sites with regional partners and support service development.

Qualifications

• Master's level qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Evidence of continuing professional development in maternity leadership, urgent care, governance and patient safety.
• Practice assessor, mentorship or equivalent educational experience.
• Registered midwife with current NMC registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, clinical and operational leadership for maternity triage across two sites.
• Lead development of triage pathways in line with national standards and local priorities.
• Oversee patient flow, capacity, demand, waiting times and escalation processes.
• Support Flow, Safety and Escalation Midwives and the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.
• Governance, patient safety, risk management, complaints and incident investigations with learning embedded.
