The Senior Materials Technician role at Civil Works Alliance supports the Sizewell C project, leading materials testing and QA in a UKAS-accredited laboratory environment. You will ensure concrete, aggregates, earthworks materials meet nuclear-build standards and coordinate testing programmes.

You will mentor junior staff, maintain calibration schedules and drive continuous improvement while upholding safety and quality across all site and laboratory activities.

Qualifications

• Experience operating within a UKAS-accredited laboratory.
• Strong understanding of ISO 17025 requirements.
• Previous experience training, mentoring or supervising others.
• Excellent communication and data reporting skills.
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent industry experience).
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsabilités

• Leading and undertaking laboratory and site-based materials testing.
• Managing testing resources and daily laboratory activities.
• Ensuring ISO 17025 and UKAS accreditation requirements.
• Producing accurate reports and material compliance summaries.
• Coordinating external laboratory testing and reviewing results.
• Supporting audits and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintaining calibration schedules and testing equipment.
• Training and developing technicians and junior team members.
• Supporting large-scale earthworks trials and ongoing quality testing programmes.
• Promoting a strong culture of safety, quality and collaboration.
