Senior Material Operative

Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent

Hours of Work: Monday-Friday, 0800-1600

We are seeking a Senior Material Operative to facilitate the smooth operation of Purchase Order (PO) receipts, storage, maintenance, and shipment preparation. This role will be integral in maintaining strong client relationships while ensuring that all processes are carried out efficiently and in accordance with established procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure efficient and effective execution of tasks in line with operational requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for both onshore and offshore client inquiries, addressing issues and queries promptly and accurately.
  • Manage inventory processes, including work order processing, stock movement, returns, repairs, and scrap disposal.
  • Coordinate shipping work orders in alignment with the sailing schedule.
  • Oversee transportation, inspection, repair, or relocation of inventory as required.
  • Maintain stock accuracy by utilising the SAP system.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and investigate discrepancies identified during the process.
  • Professionally address customer queries and tasks within designated timeframes.
  • Foster and maintain strong, professional relationships with key stakeholders and clients.
  • Reallocate resources to meet operational demands as required.
  • Respond to any base emergency as directed by Material & Inventory Manager during silent hours in compliance with the base Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Supervise staff under the Duty Manager’s control during an emergency until relieved by Senior ASCO Management or emergency services.
  • Bring operational resilience to the team by supporting and providing coverage across all functions.
Minimum Competencies
  • Proven experience in inventory management and material operations.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in SAP and inventory systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Standard Grades/ National 5 (or equivalent).
  • Dangerous Goods by Sea (IMDG) and Dangerous goods by Air (IATA).
Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory experience/qualifications.
  • Air Cargo Known Consignor Basic Training.
