Job summary

James Fisher (Shipping Services) Limited seeks a Chief Engineer to lead the engine department on the Trent Fisher vessel, reporting to the Master. You will drive safety, implement the Safety Management System, and oversee maintenance to protect crew and the marine environment.

Based on a tanker and buoy-assist vessel operating near the Humber estuary, you will coordinate toolbox talks, manage permits, and ensure safe working practices and accurate logbooks while maintaining the maintenance

Qualifications

• Valid medical fitness certificate for seafarers (ENG1 or equivalent).
• STCW certifications: Survival Craft, Advanced Fire Fighting, Personal Safety & Social Responsibility.
• Designated Security Duties (DSD) certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead engine department safety and management system implementation.
• Oversee vessel engine room and technical maintenance per maintenance schedule.
• Prepare risk assessments and communicate controls to all personnel.
• Manage sub-contractor activities and coordination of safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and record keeping.
