Job summary

Markel Corporation invites a senior claims professional to lead complex Marine Liability and Transport & Logistics claims within the London Market. The role focuses on governance, timely settlements, and close collaboration with brokers and underwriters to uphold service standards.

You will own strategy for a portfolio of high‑value claims, mentor junior team members, and ensure the Markel style of claims handling is applied across all classes. ACII accreditation or active pursuit is expected.

Qualifications

• Background in Marine Liability or related class is required.
• ACII accreditation or working towards it.
• Experience handling complex lead primary and excess claims.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of complex claims following established philosophy and governance.
• Interact with brokers and underwriters to manage strategy and reserving.
• Produce accurate narratives and claims developments for stakeholders.
• Lead claims discussions in underwriting meetings and with legal providers.
• Provide feedback for renewals, new business, and policy wording.
