Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join a global automotive manufacturer.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for implementation of production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements with project-based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs.

Further responsibilities include:

1. Manage KPIs and ensure preventative actions are taken to maximise success.
2. Responsible for multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative original solutions where results are key to successful completion of major projects.
3. Work mostly independently with minimal supervision; work is reviewed at project milestones and/or on completion by Senior Management.
4. Design new systems and processes for the introduction of new products or for the improvement of existing ones.
5. Ensure all product and system requirements are taken into account from the initial product conception to the finished result.
6. Ensure product and process quality to meet specifications required.
7. Manage budgets and time deadlines.
8. Tender for equipment to ensure the best quality for best price.
9. Oversee installation of machinery and equipment.
10. Maintain statistical and financial records.
11. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
12. Remove waste from the processes.
13. Organise plant start-up and shut-down schedules to ensure minimum loss of production time.
14. Support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving, and process improvement activities.
15. Carry out FMEAs (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), process documentation, and implement improvements.
16. Poka Yoke (error proofing) where possible to prevent errors.
17. Investigate production and process issues.
18. Provide technical support and training.
19. Write proposals and reports with all necessary backup material.
20. Develop innovative solutions to unique problems.
21. Develop and maintain expertise.
22. Keep up with current and developing engineering trends.
23. Undertake special projects as required.
24. Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
