We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering Team at Leonardo in Luton. You will be part of the Manufacturing Operations business unit, a leader in delivering defence electronics, mission-critical systems for situational awareness, electronic warfare, communications, and surveillance across land, air, and sea domains.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will build cross-functional relationships and positively influence project teams to support the business's future and improve the production process.
In this role, you will oversee the transition of new products from design to manufacturing, lead front-end manufacturing activities, provide DFx input into design, and resolve production capability issues. Your technical and project management skills will ensure new products are introduced efficiently, cost-effectively, and accurately.
You will develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, and collaborating with operators and suppliers.
You will participate in Manufacturing Maturity Reviews, maintain governance through the Lifecycle Management process, and contribute to Manufacturing Plans.
You will provide manufacturing decision-making support, review production schedules, labor and material costs, and estimate future requirements. You will also prepare reports by analyzing data and trends.
You should be able to resolve routine and some complex product and production issues on the shop floor, reacting efficiently to escalations from manufacturing teams.
You will help improve manufacturing efficiency through capacity analysis, workflow planning, space requirements, and equipment layout optimization.
