Job summary

Skilled Careers seeks an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead a commercial team within the Buildings sector on education framework projects in London and the south east.

You will oversee cost planning, forecasting, and final accounts, mentoring the commercial team, and driving procurement strategy while working with senior stakeholders to optimise value and protect margins. A Tier 1 or major contractor background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a quantity surveyor on major projects.
• Proven leadership of commercial teams.
• Deep knowledge of standard forms of contract and commercial processes.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen with margin protection.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional membership (e.g. RICS) highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of major projects or a portfolio of schemes.
• Oversee cost planning, forecasting, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to the commercial team.
• Drive procurement strategy and subcontractor management to achieve best value and risk mitigation.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to influence commercial strategy and project outcomes.
