Job summary

Skilled Careers is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the Buildings team in London and the South East. You will lead a commercial team, provide direction and mentoring, and work with operations and leadership to maximise value and protect margin.

The role requires a proven track record delivering complex construction projects within a Tier 1 or major contractor environment, with strong leadership and knowledge of contract forms.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in quantity surveying and commercial management on major projects.
• Proven leadership of commercial teams.
• Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and commercial processes.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management.
• RICS membership desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of major projects or a portfolio of schemes, ensuring financial success
• Oversee cost planning, forecasting, valuations, variations, and final account negotiations
• Provide leadership and mentoring to the commercial team, supporting development and performance
• Drive procurement strategy and subcontractor management to achieve best value and risk mitigation
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to influence commercial strategy and project outcomes
