R&D Renewables Senior Manager

The Opportunity
As the Senior Manager of the Renewables team, you will lead and develop a programme of activities to support EDF POWER SOLUTIONS UK&I ambitions. This will include the development of key topics such as the renewables integration into the UK grid, the optimisation of hybrid assets, and finding relevant use-cases for geospatial data to create competitive advantages.
You will collaborate with key stakeholders, manage a team, and act as deputy to the Head of Renewables. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on the future of renewable energy in the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will develop and deliver a “Research Activities” roadmap, taking into account short and long-term relevance. Communicate effectively externally and internally the results of projects.
You will manage a group of research engineers, ensuring that the portfolio of research projects remains aligned with the strategies and objectives agreed with the Head of R&D Renewables. Coordinate with stakeholders from across the Group and external academic and industry partners to evaluate new projects and secure funding from internal or external sources.
You will manage the relationship with senior stakeholders from across EDF UK businesses and Group to ensure the continued support and interest in UK R&D activities.
You will have the scope to shape and influence the direction of the wider R&D team and will also have the opportunity to develop a broad network across the Group and the industry.
Who You Are
You’ll have an innovation-led mindset and a ‘can-do’ attitude, as well as being comfortable working in a wide range of different project teams. You will have a variety of technical and leadership skills, although there will be plenty of support to help the right candidate develop into the role.
You will have an innovative mindset, the ability to think strategically, and be comfortable working with a large variety of complex stakeholders. Have a master’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or equivalent experience working in a commercial environment. Have knowledge of some or all of: onshore wind, solar, grid challenges, geospatial data, port decarbonisation.
You will have experience in developing academic collaboration and/or partnerships with other industrial stakeholders, leading a team, business development, and/or successful sourcing of research funding. Have excellent knowledge of renewables and related challenges, and excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
